In Story Workshop® sessions, the group does exercises that help creative writers develop point of view, vantage point, physical description, sense of place, voice, voice of the overall storyteller, among others aspects of craft. The intent is to continually build the participants' capacities for mental seeing and to open up experimentation with various styles, structures, subjects, etc., so that when they reach in-session writing at the end of the workshop, their mind's eye is sharp and they are open to many ways to get their story moving. The final session may be a critique-based group discussion of participants' writings, or the "traditional" workshop model.
