National Recovery Reading & Open Mic

  • The Writers Place 3607 Pennsylvania Ave Kansas City, MO, 64111 United States (map)

The Writers Place’s annual Recovery Reading and Open Mic highlights writing by those who have experienced the impact of addiction to alcohol and/or drugs, as well as writing by those impacted by a loved one's substance use disorder.  Featuring readings by Charles Ferruzza, Liz Gilbert, Judith Towse Roberts, and Susan Whitmore. Hosted by Charles Ferruzza.  Open mic will follow. We encourage all who have something to share to participate in any genre or format—including poetry, fiction, dialogues, monologues, journal entries, memoir or letters. Open mic readers are limited to five minutes, including remarks about the writers.
