The Power of Reading and Writing Event

  • Kansas City Public Library Plaza Branch 4801 Main St Kansas City, MO, 64112 United States (map)

Reception: 6:00 p.m.
Program: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Kansas City Public Library—Plaza Branch, Truman Auditorium

In partnership with Literacy KC and the Kansas City Public Library, this annual event will showcase new readers and writers, along with two professional writers, and celebrate the connection between reading and writing.

KCPT’s Nick Haines will serve as master of ceremonies, introducing an all-star lineup, including four new adult readers who have been tutored by Literacy KC volunteers, twin  writers from The Writers Place youth classes, a military veteran who has participated in our Writing My Way Back Home workshop, and two seasoned writers, Kansas City Star columnist Jeneé Osterheldt and playwright Frank Higgins.

All will share what reading and writing have meant in their lives. If you’ve attended this event before, you know how gripping it can be.

We will be sharing a link to RSVP to the Library as soon as it is available, and we will let you know via our weekly email news.
