A New Era Begins with The Writers Place

Tuesday, December 11, 2018 the new board met for the first time at our new location at Nonprofit Village. There was lots of energy in the room as we look toward the future working within the greater Kansas City community. Here is a list of our new board members and officers.

President: Jan Rog

Vice President: Bruce Hopkins

Secretary: Charlotte Seley

Treasurer: Greg Gildersleeve

Members of the board: Lindsey Weishar, Jermaine Thompson, and James Benger.

Congratulations to everyone on the board. Now our work begins. Stayed tuned for new readings, workshops, and venues in the coming new year.

Now is the time to renew your membership or become a member of this newly structured, literary service organization.

What you have heard is true. The Writers Place has moved to a new office and is restructuring its service to writers, readers, and regional literature. The Midwest Center for the Literary Arts (parent organization to The Writers Place) stepped away from its grand building at 3607 Pennsylvania, after 27 years, and moved its office to Nonprofit Village, 31 W 31st Street, Kansas City, MO. The Writers Place is now able to devote all of its energies to programming, such as workshops, readings, discussions, and youth and senior projects. Some events will take place at the spaces in Nonprofit Village, but more and more events will occur throughout the city and region. This restructuring means that Writers Place events will reach into neighborhoods and locations not well served before.

We can’t wait for what’s next!
